Job Summary:
The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet of roll-off trucks. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working with diesel engines, specifically on roll-off or similar heavy-duty trucks, and be at least 18 years of age.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on roll-off trucks to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and software.
• Perform engine overhauls, brake system repairs, transmission services, and other necessary mechanical tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and time spent.
• Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance without disrupting service.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are in safe working condition and report any deficiencies to management.
• Adhere to company safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with roll-off trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
• Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in diesel mechanics are a plus.
• Licenses: Valid driver's license; CDL is preferred but not required.
• Skills:
o Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for diesel engines.
o Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, brake systems, and electrical components related to roll-off trucks.
o Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
o Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Physical Requirements:
o Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
o Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoors and in inclement weather.
