Finding myself writing this is heartbreaking, but I am looking for the right long-term home for my dog, Gunner.
Gunner is a 3-year-old Rottweiler who is deeply loved, and this is not a decision I’ve made lightly. My goal is not to find the fastest home. My goal is to find the right home.
Gunner is incredibly loyal, intelligent, affectionate with his people, and full of personality. He bonds deeply with the people he trusts and has so much love to give in the right environment. He is extremely playful, loves engagement with his people, and thrives with structure and attention.
I also want to be fully transparent because he deserves the best chance at success.
Gunner has reactivity issues and is not good with other animals, so he must be the only pet in the home. He is also not a good fit for a home with children. Because of this, he would do best with an experienced dog owner who understands reactive dogs and can provide consistency, exercise, patience, and responsible handling.
About Gunner:
3 years old
Rottweiler
Not neutered
Needs updated vaccinations
House trained
Crate trained
Knows basic commands
Okay with strangers
Not good with children
Extremely playful and affectionate with his people
Ideal home / screening criteria:
No other pets
No children
Experienced dog owner strongly preferred, especially experience with large breeds or reactive dogs
Stable housing situation
All adults in the household are aware of and supportive of adopting him
Willing and financially able to provide routine veterinary care
Willing to have a phone conversation before meeting
Willing to answer questions about prior dog ownership and lifestyle
Willing to provide verifiable identifying information (such as social media or other references)
Long-term commitment only
Not looking for a guard dog, breeding, or temporary placement
A $50 rehoming fee will apply to help ensure serious inquiries, and that amount will be put toward Gunner’s neutering. I will personally cover the remaining cost.
This is an emotional decision, but I am committed to doing this responsibly. I will be selective about placement because his safety and long-term success matter deeply to me.
