I'm a good bass guitarist (and occasional guitarist) looking to meet with others on a weekly or bi-monthly basis to get better while playing some cover songs and maybe craft some originals at some point. I'd like to keep the option open for playing some local shows at some point but I'm not quite there yet.

Bands and artists I like and fit into the Venn diagram of the sound I'm leaning toward include The National, Violent Femmes, Grinderman, The Cure, Psychedelic Furs, Smiths QOTSA Rush Pink Floyd but figured I'd list a bunch of artists that I'm into as a starting point. If you're inclined to reply, please send at least a sampling of musicians you're into as well.

You don't need to be amazing on your instrument to reply. I'm hoping that if I can hook up with the right folks that we'll all be inspired to play more and more, which can only lead to all of us getting better and having a great time doing it. At this point, it will improve my mental health to just plug in with some like-minded music lovers and make a bit of a racket. I'm a 52-year-old straight guy). A bit of booze or weed is fine, but no hard drinkers or stoners.
