Our customer in Houston, TX is seeking a Slitter Operator to join the team and help drive our production process to new levels of efficiency and quality. This role is for a Slitter Operator working with PTFE tape. You’ll be taking large jumbo rolls of material and cutting them down into smaller, precise widths based on customer or production requirements.
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll set up and run the slitting machine—this includes adjusting blades, setting proper tension, and making sure everything is aligned correctly before and during the run. You’ll also use tools like calipers and micrometers to check that the material meets exact specifications.
Quality is really important in this role, so you’ll be expected to monitor your output closely, catch any defects, and report issues if something isn’t right. You’ll also keep track of production and quality records throughout your shift.
There’s a strong focus on safety and organization—you’ll be responsible for keeping your machine in good condition and your work area clean and hazard-free.
Physically, the job involves being on your feet most of the shift, moving materials, and lifting up to about 35 pounds regularly.
Slitter Operator Responsibilities:
- Slits Jumbo rolls of PTFE tape to desired widths
- Works from verbal and written instructions, locates raw materials required, sets-up slitting blades and take-up tensions following standard operating procedures
- Uses gauges, calipers and micrometers to accurately measure materials
- Reports any discrepancies to supervisor so that only quality products are produced
- Ensures assigned equipment is maintained in good operating conditions, aisles and work areas are clean and free of safety hazards
- Maintains daily production reports and quality records
Requirements for Slitter Operator:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Able to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls
- Able to reach overhead
- Able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time
- Able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
- Able to lift and/or move 35 pounds of weight frequently
