The NHANES Mobile Examination Center (MEC) Health Technologist performs examinations pursuant to study requirements including, but not limited to, testing for anthropometric measures, liver health, audiology, balance, and vision, and recording for the dental examiner. They calibrate and maintain the equipment required for the examination tasks and record data and observations in an automated system. When necessary, the Health Technologist serves as a resource to facilitate communications between the home office and the mobile examination center.

Candidates must:

  • Have at least an Associate's degree in the medical or health sciences. Examples of acceptable medical or health science degrees include: Licensed Radiologic Technologist, Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse, Certified Medical Manager, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, and other similar degrees in health sciences. B.S. degree in the health sciences is preferred.
  • Be professional certified or licensed by a national credentialing agency in appropriate field;
  • Have at least one year of experience in a health care setting with direct hands-on patient care;
  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Have a valid (current) driver's license that is not under suspension;
  • Be CPR certified or have the ability to obtain CPR certification within the first 3 months of employment;
  • Be willing to commit to work for at least 1 year;
  • Be capable of lifting 35 lbs., as well as packing, unpacking, moving, and storing equipment and supplies, with or without reasonable accommodations;
  • Be available to work 40 hours per week during daytime, evening, and weekend hours; and
  • Have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • FULL-TIME CONTINUOUS TRAVEL IS REQUIRED with a 1-year minimum commitment (two vacation breaks per year).

    This is a full-time nonexempt position and is eligible for overtime pay and benefits. Mandatory paid training will be held. Pay rates are based on experience.

    Benefits include bonuses, paid lodging, daily per diem, company car and insurance, and two annual paid vacations.
