Plastic Surgery Clinical Assistant/Patient Coordinator - $18/hr. - Central West Houston - Aesthetics/Plastic Surgery/Dermatology

Very professional Aesthetics practice is seeking an experienced and highly qualified clinical assistant. This position requires both clinical aptitude and the ability to act as a patient coordinator.

The clinical skills required for the job are as follows:

1). Medical Assistant Certification from a business or technical school
2). An absolute minimum of (2) - (3) years as a medical assistant in private practice. Experience in Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gyncology, Plastic Surgery or Dermatology is highly preferred.

The clinical assistant role of this position requires:
2). Experience as a medical assistant in a private practice where extensive competency and proficiency in setting up sterile fields for minor surgical procedures is required.
3). Assisting with post-surgical removal of sutures and staples and handling dressing changes
4). Administering injections
4). Rooming patients, taking vital signs, documenting patient information in Electronic Medical Records


The patient coordinator role for this position requires:

1). Experience handling patient education regarding procedures, that is instructing the patients in the procedural process as to how to prepare for the procedure, what to expect during the procedure and what is the anticipated recovery period
2). The ability to "sell" the procedure in such a way that the patient ultimately elects to schedule the surgery.
3). The ability to procure patient consents and all pre-surgical paperwork and make certain any required laboratory tests are done prior to surgery
4). The ability to assist in surgical scheduling
5). Follow-up with potential patients for additional information which might result in the patient scheduling surgery
6). Shadowing the physician in the exam room and assisting with pre-operative and post-operative care
7). Follow up with patients post-surgical to determine patient satisfaction and healing
8). Ability to obtain referrals and network the practice to other potential patients

Additional attributes required are:
1). A very conservative, "natural", front office appearance
2). Exceptional communication skills in English with an articulate communication style - that is excellent diction and grammar
3). Good job tenure
4). Excellent references
5). Clear criminal background check
