A private club server provides high-end, personalized food and beverage service to members and their guests. The role blends traditional hospitality with relationship-building, requiring staff to memorize member preferences, anticipate needs, and maintain a polished, welcoming environment.
Core Responsibilities: Member Relations: Greet members by name, learn their specific preferences (e.g., favorite wine or seating area), and build long-term rapport. Service Execution: Present menus, explain daily chef specials, answer dietary/allergy questions, and guide members through food-and-wine pairings. Order Processing: Take accurate orders and efficiently input them into the club’s Point of Sale (POS) system (e.g., Jonas, Toast, or computerized club networks). Table Maintenance: Serve courses using proper etiquette and tray service, clear plates, refill beverages, and maintain a pristine dining space throughout the shift. Billing: Handle member billing by accurately closing out checks to member accounts, avoiding traditional cash or credit card transactions for daily dining.
Side Work: Complete opening and closing tasks, such as polishing silverware, folding napkins, and stocking service stations.
Qualifications & Skills Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of serving experience in a high-paced, upscale dining or resort setting.
Etiquette & Professionalism: A polished, professional appearance and demeanor suited for a refined, exclusive environment. Communication: Exceptional verbal communication skills and the ability to handle member requests or complaints gracefully using service recovery.
Flexibility: Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and extended shifts during busy tournament seasons or club events.
Certifications: Food Safety Certificate and TABC/alcohol certification.
Working Environment & Physical Demands: Requires standing and walking for the duration of a shift (often 6 to 8+ hours). Requires the physical ability to carry heavy trays of food, dishes, and beverages. May involve moving between various club facilities (e.g., main dining room, men's/women's grills, patio, or outdoor golf house) depending on the day's events.
