Job Description
Universal Glass is a growing glass and glazing company seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day accounting and support year-end tax preparation. This role is ideal for someone with experience working with construction or trade-based businesses and cash-basis accounting.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate books using cash-basis accounting
Track job-level income and expenses (labor, materials, job costs)
Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
Track customer payments, partial payments, and outstanding balances
Assist with job profitability reporting
Prepare monthly and year-end financial reports (P&L)
Coordinate with CPA for year-end tax filing
Ensure proper documentation for audits and tax support
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as an accountant or bookkeeper
Strong understanding of cash-basis accounting
Experience with construction, contracting, or trade businesses preferred
Familiarity with job-costing and progress payments
Proficiency in Excel and/or accounting software (QuickBooks preferred)
Strong attention to detail and organization
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Experience with glass, glazing, or construction companies
Experience preparing reports for CPAs
Knowledge of retainage and partial payments
Prior work with small businesses
Will require a extensive background check.
Will require 2 past employment referrals.
