AthletesConnection.com, a high school sports Web site based in west Houston, is seeking an Editor/Writer.
The Athlete’s Connection is devoted to promoting high school sports in a positive light. We cover approximately 70 public and private high schools throughout Greater Houston.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assigning editorial content, coordinating game schedules and non-event stories and assigning the Action Update rotation.
- Ensuring stories, both game and non-event, and other duties as assigned are completed in a timely, accurate manner. Editing all content for accuracy and style.
- Oversee posting of stories and photos to Web site.
- Cover at least four events a week, writing and photos.
- Oversee advance planning of editorial content.
- Ensure Web site content both provides information to readers and follows the principles set at its founding as a companion site to CollegeBallorBust.com.
- Form relationships within the Greater Houston high school sports scene for the mutual benefit of the site, athletes and readers.
- Market both Web sites, through means including but not limited to announcements read at games and handing out cards.
- Instruct and advise staff.
Previous sports writing experience is preferred.
