MAINTENANCE ENTERPRISES, INC (Insurance Support Div.), Houston (Kingwood), Texas – May, 2004 – January, 2007
Mechanical Engineering Consultant. Assigned and worked on projects where an industrial plant (s) i.e a refinery or petrochemical plant has had a fire or explosion. I helped establish what the worth of the plant was before the plant was damaged. This involves going to the plant site and while wearing the appropriate PPE, examined the damaged portion of the plant which could include pumps, motors, HVAC equipment, structural steel, buildings, pressure vessels, pipe, heat exchangers, etc., and how to clean up the plant that was handling a hazardous product. Other assignments have included the investigation of a leaking tank storage tank in a storage and unloading terminal, and the investigation of a fire that damaged refractory and convection tubes in a chemical processing plant. MEI’s estimates might include not only the equipment replacement or repair costs, but what it could cost to decontaminate it, reassemble it, commission it, and start it back up. The information generated is useful in verifying the potential costs and extent of damage to a plant.

Hydrogeology Sales and Marketing Position

This is a unique opportunity for self driven and motivated individuals to represent a rapidly growing hydrogeologic technology company. BESST, Inc. is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay area (San Rafael, CA) and possesses an exclusive license with the USGS for advanced technologies that allow for the measurement and analysis of flow and water chemistry within a water well, under real operating conditions, without removal of the pump. These technologies are small enough so that they can pass through the annulus between the pump column/bowls/motor and casing. The data collected can then be used to calculate a depth-discrete, or zonal, flow profile and chemical mass balance of water entering the well . BESST has also developed other miniature technologies for ambient flow and video inspection of production wells, injection wells and ASR wells that are capable of passing through the annulus of the well in a catheter-like fashion. Together, this suite of technologies constitutes a competitor-disruptive technology base of great technical and economic value to municipalities, private water companies, agricultural interests and mining companies. The data generated from these profiling services also provides unique hydrogeologic consulting opportunities that are specific to well and well field optimization, geochemical facies evaluation and stratigraphic control.

We seek individuals who are confident and comfortable presenting to, and conversing with, individuals and groups of engineers and scientists. Successful applicants will explain how these technologies work, how they will save the client money in the short and long term and how these savings can be redirected to other infrastructure needs. The qualified individuals will ideally possess a solid background in hydrogeology and will demonstrate excellent personal communication skills. This is a commission based position but with all office, travel and communication expenses covered by BESST, Inc. The position has the potential to grow into a full salary based position or into a combination of base salary with commission.

Please respond in confidence to: Michelle Whitman (mwhitman@besstinc.com).
